The story came down our family that he died on the sofa (my great, great, great grandmother's) in the parsonage of Eccles. The then rector (or vicar) of Eccles was Thomas Blackburne son of John Blackburne MP of Hale and Orford.
It left a nasty stain on the upholstery by all accounts.
