Any boat - or ship - has a minimum of two anchors depending on the size. Even a 16 ft day boat. The second anchor is the Kedge. Very useful in many situations - as in kedging off a sand / mud bank you got stuck on. Put kedge in boat (or carry it if it's a small boat - up to 20 ft) and take it out to clear water. Bed it in. Haul. Then hope. Depends how well you're stuck on the putty!! So with such a sensible owner Goblin would have had a back-up kedge. Ask again if we can help. Joe
