No, because Mike is not inviting me to have a drink with him. My reply to Peter R was to indicate that I have the right to refuse to spend an evening in the Butt & Oyster listening to attacks on religion, however 'sincere' he is.

Now back to the topic - Mike - fear not, no 'lambasting' from me - I also find some of BB's work 'challenging' (to use a current vogue word). Much of his church music doesn't work for me. And I would not have liked Nancy Blackett to have been given the 'Albert Herring' treatment, and I fear she might. However I would still have liked BB to give a serious treatment to an AR tale, more in the 'Peter Grimes' mode, as mentioned in Robert T's rather more informed posting.

As to BB's private life, well yes, OK, but I think you have to judge composers on their work, which will outlive them.
