Fray Bentos is still available. I wish I can remember what the proper butcher we used to live near wrapped his stuff in.

Our local supermarket (Tesco) sells meat cut to order wrapped in plastic bag type material or ready packaged in shrink wrap (mainly large bits, has a tendency to leak) and in plastic or polystyrene trays with peel off plastic lids. Which, come to think of it is a pretty impressive variety. But then, the shrink wrap saves space, teh trays stack neatly and look nice and the bag type stuff is quick.
