Are we reading too much into this ?
In SA there are no obvious places where a car would have been described in the narrative.
In the Film, the Swallows and Mother (and Nurse too!) arrive from the station in a large car, but this is not in the book.
A car is an obvious transport means for the Doctor, and so it is mentioned. Likewise a car is the obvious way for Mrs Blackett to go to Holly Howe.
Remembering her struggles with Rattletrap in PP, I am not surprised she elected to be driven in WH, though if Rattletrap had been available, she could have engaged Cook's nephew (?) to drive it. Maybe Jim Turner didn't want it driven in dangerous conditions ?
Here we go with a new "Beckfoot Plumbing" thread !!
