Really? And there is proof of this?
I am not sure whether you saw the TV coverage of the queues at bookshops at midnight to get the first copies of the latest release. Plenty of boys in the queue some dressed as wizards ( you wouldn't have thought that an AR boat in SW would have done this!) and other characters.
ISTR more boys than girls, but perhaps more boys were allowed out at this time of night.
