Oh good. I'm tremendously happy to hear that. I could remember Amy Johnson, but couldn't think of any others, and I don't like basing my hopes on a single example. That's not to say such adventurousness was the norm, of course (is it ever?), but I'm pleased to hear of other examples.

Another theory pleasantly exploded. (And I'm now off to look up Ruth Urquhart-Dykes!)

I can, however, stick to my larger theory that P&M was for Nancy what SW was for John, I think.

So who do you figure would have been Nancy's role model, if she were reading the papers and thinking about such women?
