I am not a boat person and actually know very little about boats (except that they are supposed to somehow float). It seems to me that the process of soaking and swelling and then drying out repeatedly and frequently would not be in the best interests of the longevity of the boat - - wouldn't the wood simply get tired of this continual wet-dry process?
