This is addressed to Jock, I guess, but I'm sure others will join in.

I do enjoy railway stuff. I have, for some years now, subscribed to 'La Vie du Rail', which is a very long running French journal. The French care about trains, and run some good ones. My dad used to get this journal, and used to cook the regional recipes that they published. But he stopped at one point. I have also stopped; it does run stories about railway engineering, but it has recently turned much more into what it sets out to be; an in-house journal for French railwaymen. For example it runs French TV schedules, which really don't interest me that much. And the writing in their feature articles is getting sloppy. Far too many anglicisms... So I'm looking for a journal that would be slightly more hard-core on railways and railway technology. Maybe 'The Railway Engineer'? I haven't read it since my dad used to read it to me on his knee, during the war. Is it still around, and is it still good?

I'm looking for guidance here. One problem is that although I read French like a native (and English, I guess) I can't properly read German, or Russian. Or even Spanish.

Any thoughts please?

Any suggestions?
