I think everybody has their own Wild Cat Island.
I'm quite sure you're right. It's the sign of people loving a good book... For me, I love the Thirties. I was born just after they finished, but living in Britain through the war and on from there, you got a taste. But they were a time of great innovation, especially in style and ways of living, and I have my own image of them, as you have of WCI. And it's one reason that among my favourite chapters is, in WD, 'Lost! Two days and a boat...' It's such a beautifully written account of a 1930s day Felixstowe- and whenever I read it I feel I'm there. Silly, but I do love it.
