Perhaps it's how long I've been dealing with two-way electronic communications, but I don't see any "attempt to exclude and create a false exclusivity". The terms have been in common on-line use for years, and I've never seen anyone be reluctant to explain any of the more obscure ones to the newcomer. You might as well say that use of e.g. "halyards", "sisterhook", "starboard" or "belay that" is meant to exclude those not worthy.
