Ed is right - the mining and removal of copper ore, mentioned in PP and PM, is the one serious ownership issue in the books (GN? is really about trespass). I see it this way: before PP starts, Captain Flint has negotiated an exploratory licence with the mineral owner (who might not have been the same person as the land owner and might even have been the E*rl of L*nsd*le). After Roger had found copper ore, Capn Flint and Timothy had negotiated a licence (or sublicence) to exploit and remove minerals, paying a royalty to the mineral owner, and they also brought in Slater Bob as a partner. Slater Bob must already have had some sort of agreement for slate working. I'm sure other Tarboarders can improve on the detail here.
Ed - your 10 marks are awarded and added to your earned marks which are 100/100. That's 110 marks, which surely deserves the "AusTARS Cup"(pause for laughter).
