Ah, thank you! I've never seen the film, but I imagine it's the Swallows and Amazons description that stuck in my mind as it's the one I read obsessively as a child.
I'd considered the contrast of Nancy and Peggy to Daisy as an important point, linking Daisy to Mehalah is a really good step from that.
