Thanks Dave - just had a quick look and noticed the entry on Great Northern Divers.
I visited Minnesota some 20-30 years ago and was fortunate to see a Common Loon (it swooped down in to a lake and caught a fish and swooped off again, one of my American friends whose boat I was in stood up and applauded!) To find out what I saw has Great Northern connections pleases me - I was aware the species were connected but the name change is particularly pleasing.
