It is a bit brutal, isn't it? Is that the colour of new, raw, treated wood? In which case it's likely to fade to gray in the light? Along with the rest of the building getting a bit mossy and dirty...
The ground seems to be a bit steeper than in the AR illustration 'It hasn't tumbled down yet'(JC 1948 p.37). But the position of the path seems remarkably similar.
