“It seems that AR is quite comfortable with island ownership when it suits him.”
Well yes, AR mentions the rather haughty notice on the island near Rio because he wants to increase the tension on the Swallows who are already doing something forbidden, i.e. night sailing. And island ownership was one of the central plot devices in ‘Great Northern?’ I don’t regard these examples of ownership as “comfortable”, and surely as an author AR can choose what to mention and what not to mention “when it suits him” – isn’t that what all good authors do?
