"Beastly" is another good example of period language. Perhaps that was one of the words used by kids and not really by adults? (Most of the other words - hullo/golly/I say - were used by all ages.)

"Beastly" is used 105 times in the 12 books.

"Bunloaf" is used 24 times in 3 books, once in AR's The Child's Book of the Seasons:
Great big slices of bunloaf, dark and full of soft, juicy raisins

Yes, dark!!!
