What an interesting find!
By chance I have a Puffin Edition with the Kerins cover but undated.
On the main map the Kanchenjunga name is spelt correctly but it and most of the names have been redrawn for the sake of clarity.
Similarly, the sketch map which would have been rather difficult to read if reduced to fit the Puffin page, although it does not contain the extra bits around Atkinson's that you mention. It is certainly much clearer than AR's. Well done somebody in the design dept. of Penguin books!
