Wasn't AR's imagination wonderful? Having had a short holiday in the Lake District and explored the environs of Coniston, I truly admire how he took a place he loved and tweaked it so effectively to incorporate the adventures of his young characters.
It's what makes the difference between a merely good writer and one who continues to inspire and intrigue readers long after he is gone.
