Yes I would tend to agree that a wealthy solicitor is likely to have a bathroom. But this is one point that Ed and I. We can not solve this problem from the books. I lived for a while in an Australian house that had a hot water heater built into the wood stove with a tank in the roof, the people banked the fire at night but it was lit all the time. I never remember running out of hot water.

A small dam up in the hills above Beckfoot would solve the water problem, is this common in the Lake District?

Is there a local council in the Lake District and do they have a web page?


Next interesting point,

What were the wires that ran from the old stable to the house used for? Dick uses them in Pigeon Post for the bell ringing exercise.


Also I wonder what the single storey building is to the left (looking from the road) of the old stables.
