Jonathan,

Whenever I travel in the U.S. (western part) or meet Americans from west of the Mississippi the conversation frequently turns to scones. I get a blank look until I describe them. "Oh, biscuits!" they cry, their faces brightening. Biscuits are doubtless known as scones in your part of the country.
