Young Arthur was such an imaginative lad before he banged his head on that bolt in the kitchen table. Always writing stories...
Commander Walker watched the telegraph boy get smaller as the frigate steamed out of the harbour. Too bad that there would be no more private posts until September....
The boom passed harmlessly overhead. After short struggle John regained control over the tiller. "By Gum" he thought that was very nearly a close one..
"It's a good story Mr Duck but I've already taken on a hand for our voyage".
Softly, almost as if it didn't mean it, the snow turned to rain.
"Right young man" said Dr Dudgeon, "After last night's performance your off to your Great Aunt in Harrogate. Perhaps she can keep you out of trouble."
"Gold?" said Slater Bob, "No there never was gold on these fells. I know of a nice drop of copper on the High Tops".
"Look out !" shouted John as the little white cutter veered towards the piles at the edge of the hard. But it was too late. It was clear that it would be sometime before the Goblin set out on another voyage.
"Well the First Sea Lord will just have to whistle for it" said ex Commander Walker. "Quality time with my children is far more important than preparing the navy for a war, no matter how imminent."
"Come on" said Bill, "lets cast some more boats off."
"Chop their heads off" said Misse Lee
"Of course the Callum children are more than welcome to stay. Your mother has told me all about them."
"Divers?" said Mr Jemmerling, "My dear boy, I'm afraid those are comorants."
