This thread set me thinking yet again about the ever-interesting question of the correspondences, and differences, between the Walkers and the Altounyans, and in particular between Bridget Walker and
Brigit Altounyan. It would, I think, be very interesting to know the answers to the following questions:
- Was Brigit A., like Bridget W., often, or usually, called "Bridgie" by members of her family? The fashion of the time for diminutive endings ending in -y or -ie for children's names gives us "Rogie" in the S&A books, but only one example (in PP) of "Susie" (which, according to Taqui, was the name usually given to Susan A.)
- Was the name "Vicky" ever used in the Altounyan family, or was it a pure invention of AR's?
- In a letter from Aleppo, AR refers to Brigit as "Booshy". Was she saddled with this nickname into later life?
There is, of course, only one person able to answer these questions: please, Madam President, can you help us?
