It is said here (Lowestoft) that fishermen cast their nets (and presumably their lobster pots) to starboard is because that is what Jesus commanded the disciples to do before the Miraculous Draught of Fishes.
I have repeated this story hundreds of times while explaining life on the herring drifters, but Alan's message compelled me at last to check what it actually says in St Luke, and I find that he is silent on these important technical issues.
Is there anybody there with a better knowledge of the Bible than I have who can confirm or deny the reference?
