My thinking is: We know that Swallowdale is about 100 yards long. (Chapter 4 THE ABLE SEAMAN AND THE BOY EXPLORE "It was a little valley in the moorland, shut in by another waterfall at the head of it, not a hundred yards away...."

Then, when one goes to the map on the inside cover - frontpiece? - of PM (which is the only book I have which has a complete map of The Lake) - one can see that Swallowdale is about 1/4" long, or 100 yards +/-.

So, AR has given us a scale - on the map in PM, 1/4" = 100 yards +/-.

The Lake measures about thirty four, 1/4" long, bits.

Therefore, thirty four times 100 yards is 3,400 yards. At 1760 yards per mile - according to my Chambers - The Lake is 3,400 divided by 1,760 which is 1.93 miles long. Of course, I'm not a geographer.

But, I though someone who can scale out all the dimensions of SCARAB, would be able to assist with my thesis. And, expand on it to provide dimensions to everything on the map. Over to you all.
