Yes, the problem with schemes like this these days is that labour costs are much higher proportionately than they used to be. Typically, the labour portion of building a new Swallow these days might be three-quarters of the total cost of the boat, whereas (my guess would be that) in the days when the original Swallow would have been built it would have been more like one-third.

This is the primary reason why people commissioning new timber vessels much larger than dinghy-size today typically have them built in places like Thailand or Indonesia.
