Several times on this board the notion of what the availability of mobile phone (or GPS receivers) might have done to the storylines and plot devices - if not kill them off completely. I'm sure this is true, for the storylines as they were conceived mapped to the technology of the time.

Does anyone know of esp. a writer of children's books that is developing storylines where the 21st century gadgets are part of the technology of the time, and just taken for granted and used as they are today? I'm sure stories can be developed where the technology doesn't become either a plot-killer or deus ex machina and it is so pervasive today that it would appear to be time.
