As many will be aware, it is not now possible to anchor precisely where the "Goblin" anchored, in the creek between Swallow Island and Mastodon Island, because the bed of the creek is an oyster laying - and has been for thirty years.

However, I am now "in a position to confirm" that the oysters concerned are (a) all ostrea edulis, i.e. Natives (b) much better value than the equivalents in West Mersea and (c) delicious! They are all exported to Belgium, apparently - they appreciate these things, there!

Furthermore, it is still possible to anchor a little higher up - off the toe of Bridget Island - between the buoys showing the limit of the layings and the first of the permanent moorings. Reconnaissance by dinghy, at low water, recommended before proceeding!
