I mentioned previously the reissue of "You're a Brick Angela", which had a few pp on AR, now "Chin Up Chest Out Jemima!" has just been reissued (Has a link to TARS). You would prob have to be a real [UK Girls' Boarding Sch story] devotee to get this; it has a couple of spoofs by Arthur Marshall [English Radio personality], etc.
The Marshall story has a reference to "a beanfest at Mecca" which may intrigue some UK TARS -- Mecca was the school dining hall contractor at my London school in the 40's-50' and presumably at other private schools also. Meals were known as "Mecca muck".
[Elsewhere, I found Philip Larkin's girls' story pastiches in his recent Collected Works - 1 set at Boarding School, 1 at Oxford Univ. - to be charming and readable; they were written for private consumption, and for his friends K. Amis etc, but in the above circles they are perhaps frowned upon].
