A U.S. TARS has asked me whether it is possible to get commercial Splatchers (i.e. Mastodon hoofprints). She lives in Massachusetts and her attempt to make them herself was not attended by total success: eventually after rescue they had to dig the buried splatcher out of the mud with a long-handled hoe. She wonders if splatchers are available commercially in the U.K. perhaps near the Naze. It may even be that they are available in the U.S. but I'm not aware of any offhand.

I gather part of her problem is also that she needs to walk in water-covered mud. She describes this as non-tidal freshwater, with 1-3 feet of water covering 2-3 feet of mud over gravel. She wonders if in fact this mud would be substantially different than tidal saltwater mud when not covered in water.

Any comments, recommendations or pointers to products?
