I believe the Great Aunt has some interest in the property. Otherwise
Captain Flint and Mrs Blackett would simply tell her to go home! Note
also her attitude in 'Picts and Martyrs': very much the proprietor!
I would like to know a bit more about Turner family history. Surely
Jim, as the eldest son, would have expected to come into Beckfoot on
the death of his parents. Or did he allow his sister and Mr Blackett
(presumably a local lad) to take up residence when they got married?
Obviously he keeps some sort of a foothold at Beckfoot, despite periods
of travelling and houseboat dwelling. I think there's something we are
not being told about this whole matter...
