Titanic's Captain:

I do not argue with your points. I am looking at the problem the Captain had - the Titanic took 3 hours to sink, he had 2200 passengers and 20 lifeboats. The passengers were men, women and children, and not Irish Ships Labourers. 2200/20 = 110 per life boat. They had been tested with 80 men and found safe.

His duty once the ship was holed was to save as many people as he possibly could. Even 20*80 = 1600 which implies 600 deaths not the higher number that occured. I was not there and I appreciate that, but I still consider that his seamenship should have been up to that second task, once his ship was sinking. Losing the ship is bad, losing a life is many times worse.

Maybe I am being harsh - but then there are a lot of dead people.

But I was not there.
