Well, that's true in a way (and perhaps for that reason, SW is one of my favorites). But it's not so much the setting as the activities and motivations of the kids. The joy and wonder the Swallows express at sailing, camping, and hiking, is truly terrific and a great inspiration for, or affirmation of, the same feelings in young readers.
