I think that what started as a straight answer to Ed's perfectly reasonable question is getting far too personal.

I will just say that the vast majority of people who go afloat, both in expensive boats and in cheap ones, sail or power, are courteous, considerate, and do their best to behave in a seamanlike manner.

Sadly, however, the spirit of the Hullabaloos is still alive and well, and it seems particularly noticeable - and can be particularly dangerous - when it is exhibited by people in large,powerful, fast and expensive boats.
