I'll refer you to my mother then. She comes from Yorkshire, which I suppose is the other side of the Pennines from Cheshire but then again, I think my Dad eats them hot too and he's from Lancashire. For that matter so am I but I prefer them cold. There again I'm not sure if Buxton is on any side of the Pennines. Sometimes these questions of taste have a life of their own and can not be reduced to demography.
Thrutch is a common climbing expression meaning to procede with a great deal of exertion and very little elegance up a constricted chimney or similar awkward obstruction.
