I'll refer you to my mother then. She comes from Yorkshire, which I suppose is the other side of the Pennines from Cheshire but then again, I think my Dad eats them hot too and he's from Lancashire. For that matter so am I but I prefer them cold.
my father from Lancashire, mother from Derbyshire/Cheshire/Lancashire nexus around Disley / Chapel en le Frith - neither 'flashy boat Monkhouse rammer types' liked them warmed up. Wife Doth - Cumberland/Lancashire and I - Cheshire born and bred - like them hot from the shop.
Thrutch is a common climbing expression meaning to procede with a great deal of exertion and very little elegance up a constricted chimney or similar awkward obstruction.
also much used by cavers / potholers where such features are common
