1 Yes in general terms, but that wouldn't have stopped people having them built for pleasure - indeed there was an article in 'Classic boat' a few years ago which said that a local boatbuilder still is (or was very recently) building in fibreglass very small boats (about 10 foot) of classic Morecambe Bay type.

But I agree with the implication that Swallow 1 was probably not of Morecambe Bay type, whereas Swallow 2 certainly was.

2 - My own boat is on Stuart Weir's The Boats of Swallows and Amazons site.
