"One point because you could twist your ankle scrambling down to find the entrance"
I twisted my ankle walking off the curb. I'd just been skiing in the dark, which would probably get a few points, especailly as I was by myself.
Life, unlike death holds a myriad opportunities for killing oneself. I agree with Jock that closing old mines in the Lake district because someone might hurt themselves would cause a justifiable outrage. I disagree with him, however, about blaming the 'nanny state'. If the mines were sealed up it wouldn't be to protect you, the public, from hurting yourselves but to protect the landowners, local authority etc from being blamed because you had hurt yourself. Perversely It's the doctrine of individual responsibility taken to the nth degree that prevents other people taking responsibility for their own actions.
