Would that be the reverse slope so beloved by the Duke of Wellington ? He always tried to station his men just behind the crest of a ridge so that the advancing enemy could not see them until they reached the brow - to be met with a withering blast of musket fire. Blucher disagreed and had his men on the forward slope because "they liked to see who they were fighting" - but in doing so provided target practice for the enemy gunners.
