really wet so maybe we did not go fast enough

Least I give the impression of being a stick-in-the-mud, let me stress that I have nothing but admiration for developments at the top end of the sport. The exploits of sailors like Ellen MacArthur and Claire Francis (both AR readers in their youth) leave me breathless with admiration. No, what I am griping about is the height of the initial step. With safe clinker sailing dinghies banished from municipal boating lakes - unless you are lucky enough to have a boat owning friend - the usual entry into sailing is through sailing clubs which may not be everybody's cup of tea.

I would be interested to hear from other Tarboarders. How did you learn to sail?
