I happen to have two versions of Peter Duck, the older cover (1953 impression) says

Arthur Ransome
author of 'Swallowdale', 'Swallows and Amazons'
And in a little box lower down
"With illustrations mainly by themselves"
The 2000 impression says
Peter Duck
Arthur Ransome
author of 'Swallows and Amazons'
And the lower box
"A treasure hunt in the Caribbees"
