Some authors deliberately distort temporal relations so as to be able to include things in their books that really occured before or after the timescale of their creations. Maybe this was the case with the Bawdsey Radio Masts. But with PD we have a simpler explanation:

  1. It was supposed to be a real adventure which took place in summer 1930.
  2. It was then overtaken by SD which was pencilled in for Summer 1931.
  3. As SD progressed PD became recast as a 'tale within a tale' occuring in Winter 1930.
  4. SD was then hauled back in time so that SA was 'last year'.
  5. PD was tidied up and the 'tale within a tale' references inserted into SD.
  6. In AR's mind SA remained in 1929 and SD in 1931 as he aged the characters especially Vicky/Bridget.
  7. The time discrepancies remain as a clue to AR's original intentions.

Tarboarders wishing to keep their own temporal distortions to a minimum should cut down on their intake of CH3CH2OH or else try downloading the utility below.
