Apologies, Prue. There is (or was) a tradition in English schools that all female teachers were called 'Miss . . . .' whether they were married or not, and I didn't want to break that tradition in my virtual public school. The appellation 'Ms', of course, would have been unknown. However, you are right to claim your proper title. I am happy to have you at St Tarboard's as Botany Mistress (sorry, again - that was the term used in English schools!). Perhaps this is a suitable moment for the school spoof to be quietly laid to rest - I did have ideas for other positions in the school, including a 'school caretaker' who had a room under the main stairs and was always muttering angrily about something. I gave this job to . . . . . but no, perhaps best left unidentified.
