I would never have heard of it if I had not watched the moved "I'll Be There" featuring Charlotte Churce, and listened to the Director's commentary on the DVD, and it that, he explained that the agent was munching of vegemite, which apparently was offensive as the others near him seemed to make faces and pull away from him.
One of those little culture items that thankfully did not leave the Mother Conuntry to continue to plague these United Colonies of the Americas.
