In the recent TARS Newsletter 'Signals' there is a poem by a member to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the publication of 'S&A'. It contains some 'interesting' lines, and as there has been some discussion about Susan Walker recently on Tarboard which at times got a wee bit fraught, I thought it might be a good idea now to switch attention to her elder brother, so I am setting out two of the lines of the poem:

Captain John - ah John!
Every mother's favourite son.

I wonder if that is necessarily true? Every mother? Perhaps the female Tarboarders are the only ones qualified to comment? (It probably won't surprise you to know that the author of the poem was male!)
