Nearly ten years ago, an Arthur Ransome researcher named Iain Hobbs published an extraordinary thesis in the TARS newsletter Mixed Moss. He announced that he had found the location of the legendary ‘Beckfoot’ and, what is more, claimed that Captain Flint and the Amazon pirates were based upon the family who lived there. Hardyment's Captain Flint's Trunk had just been published and the TARS elders were having nothing to do this heresy. The debate surfaced briefly on Tarboard. Then, apart from a little research on Rattletrap by myself, nothing!

Meanwhile, Iain bided his time quietly collecting new facts until he was ready to publish an updated version of his original article.

Ladies and Gentlemen, fellow Tarboarders, IF NOT DUFFERS... is pleased and proud to present Iain Hobbs's Beckfoot Found.
