I had a chat with a Lake District National Park warden and the subject of PP came up. I thought the idea of gold prospecting on Coniston Old Man (Kanchenjunga) was a bit far fetched, as as we know what was really being looked for was Copper. I was therefore surprised to learn that somebody really did find Gold somewhere in the foothills of Coniston Old Man (Kanchenjunga) but nobody has been able to locate where it was found since. It has been suggested that what was really found was Fool's Gold (Iron Pyrites) and not the real thing. However, as somebody pointed out, where you find one, you usually find the other.

Get your pan and sieve out Jock. There really is Gold in them thare hills.
