TY Fiona :-) Mostly I found them, albeit in paperback instead of the more durable hardbacks originally owned. AR's were amongst them also Maurice Gee, Joyce West, Elizabeth Enright, K.M. Peyton, Mary Norton, Barbara Sleigh, Monica Edwards plus several others.
Does anyone remember the sets of 'boys' or 'girls' adventure books put out by the big publishing companies? Mostly the girl's ones were school stories *ugh* while the boy's ones were very outdoorsy such as Jules Verne which I much preferred. I've got two - one about caving the other racecar driving and I'd be interested to hear if anyone else had some favorites of the genre.
My children's favorite picturebooks were 'Green Eggs & Ham', 'Where the Wild Things Are', 'The Tiger who came to Tea' and 'Mr Magnolia' whereas for some reason I always loved 'Ping'.
