Which edition? The current Jonathan Cape with Ransome's illustrations has maps by Stephen Spurrier (the original illustrator of SA; IIRC Ransome didn't like his regular illustrations & eventually redid them). The J. B. Lippincott (last US hardbacks) had illustrations by Helene Dixon (mainly maps & chapter heads/trails).
You might look around for a local TARS member who will lend you a copy of Illustrating Arthur Ransome (Amazon Publications, alas out of print before I could get a copy).
