Actually, this is one of the convincing aspects of this valley - it is flat enough (though the photos may not show it) and wide enough to fit in four tents and would I feel look jst like the drawing in chapter 14. In contrast, the Swallowdale at the south end of the lake has very little flat land - you'd have to pitch along the footpath itself.

Incidentally, the drawing in ch 14 makes the sides of the valley look quite high and far more like this new Swallowdale. I would never think that we'll find somewhere exactly the same in all repsects, I'm sure AR took ideas from all over and mixed and matched, and developed, all I'm saying is that here are several ideas in one location, an unexpected location but one clearly well known to AR. Above all, it is the only small valley with a cave in it!

If you want a cave in a lower sided setting, with a way out at the back to push a broom through, well there's one of those at the mouth of this valley too, an old mine that first drew my attention to the area.

Perhaps we could set up a tin in the cave with a notepad and pencil for all adventurers to log their visit?

Rob
